Wake Up Call Coffee - a local coffee franchise with big ambitions, saw 2021 as the year to establish a legitimate office headquarters, in conjunction with their first streetfront café and a roasting facility on site. The goal was to implement a presence in the booming Sprague-Union District, through the challenging adaptive reuse of a derelict building across from Tin Roof.
A sleek industrial-modern design intent, where form follows function, has ensued – with heavy emphasis on interplay of materials, from exposed timber endgrains interlocking with heavy solid surfaces, to translucency and chainmail.
The resulting project blends seamlessly with the constraints of the historic building, exceeding the client’s expectations and offering a fresh composition of materials, furniture, and lighting inspired by the original industrial atmosphere.
